East Valley pest control from our Mesa office

Platinum Pest Management is based in Mesa, near the middle of the area we serve. From here our technicians cover Gilbert, Chandler, Tempe, Queen Creek, San Tan Valley and Apache Junction, along with Scottsdale, Ahwatukee, Maricopa and Phoenix. We provide residential pest control and commercial pest control in each of these cities. Pest activity varies from one city to the next, depending on how close homes sit to open desert or farmland and how old the neighborhood is.

Common pest problems in each city we serve

Mesa

Our office is in Mesa, where housing runs from older neighborhoods near downtown to newer ones in the northeast near the Usery Mountains. Pest control in Mesa often means roof rats in the older citrus neighborhoods and bark scorpions closer to the mountains.

Gilbert

Gilbert grew out of farmland, and many of its neighborhoods are built around lakes and irrigated greenbelts. Retention basins that hold water after monsoon storms keep mosquitoes active into late summer.

Chandler

Chandler pairs older neighborhoods around its historic downtown with newer homes in the south and the office and tech campuses of the Price Road corridor. Restaurants and offices along the corridor and downtown often need scheduled commercial service, with written records for health inspections or audits.

Queen Creek

Queen Creek still has horse properties and larger lots mixed in with its newer subdivisions. Pocket gophers are common in irrigated yards and pasture there, and stored feed can draw mice.

San Tan Valley

San Tan Valley, in Pinal County, grew quickly on former farmland and open desert. Homes near San Tan Mountain Regional Park and other open land see more bark scorpions and pack rats.

Apache Junction

Apache Junction sits at the base of the Superstition Mountains and has many manufactured homes, RV parks and older desert lots. Pack rats and mice often nest under manufactured homes where the skirting has gaps.

Tempe

Tempe is home to Arizona State University and has a large share of apartments and rental homes. Frequent move-ins and move-outs raise the risk of bed bugs and German cockroaches spreading from one unit to the next.

Scottsdale

Scottsdale runs from older neighborhoods in the south to desert homes in the north near the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. The northern lots see more bark scorpions and pack rats, so pest control in Scottsdale differs from one end of the city to the other.

Ahwatukee

Ahwatukee is part of the City of Phoenix and sits along the south side of South Mountain Park and Preserve. Homes that back onto the mountain see a lot of bark scorpion activity, and pack rats move in from the preserve.

Maricopa

The city of Maricopa, in Pinal County, is surrounded by farmland, and most of its neighborhoods have been built since the early 2000s. Crickets and mice often move into homes from the surrounding fields.

Phoenix

In Phoenix, older central neighborhoods with mature citrus, such as Arcadia, have dealt with roof rats for years. Homes near the Phoenix Mountains Preserve and other desert parks see more bark scorpions.

Does Platinum Pest Management serve cities outside the East Valley?

Are same-day appointments available in every city you serve?

Same-day and next-day appointments are often available across our service area, depending on the day's schedule and where the property is. Call (480) 518-1942 during office hours and our staff will give you the first open time for your address.

Why do some East Valley neighborhoods have more scorpions than others?

Arizona bark scorpions are most common where homes sit next to open desert, washes, mountain preserves or recently graded land, since those areas give them shelter and a steady supply of insects to eat. Block walls, landscape rock and irrigation on the lot add to it, while homes in the middle of an established neighborhood usually see fewer. Our scorpion control page explains how we treat them.
