How residential and commercial pest control differ

Residential pest control centers on the outside of the house, with an exterior treatment renewed on a schedule and interior service on request. Commercial pest control puts more attention on kitchens and loading docks, where pests have steady food and water, and each visit ends with a written service record for health inspectors and auditors. Visits for businesses are scheduled around their hours.

Many of the same pests show up in both settings. Scorpions and roaches get into offices and stores as easily as houses, so the treatment methods overlap even when the scheduling and paperwork differ.

How pest control plans work

Pests in the Valley are active for most of the year, so recurring service usually does more than a single treatment. Plans run monthly, bi-monthly (every other month) or quarterly, and one-time service is available for a single problem. Homes with desert frontage or regular scorpion activity tend to need the monthly plan, while quarterly service suits homes with light activity. Termites and bed bugs are treated differently from the pests covered by regular exterior service, and the technician will explain the approach for each.

Prices are quoted in writing after a free inspection. If covered pests come back between scheduled visits, we return and re-treat at no extra charge. Our pest control plans page compares the options in more detail.

How to get a pest identified

Identification comes before treatment, because similar-looking pests often need very different approaches. A swarm of flying ants can look like a termite swarm, and German and American cockroaches are handled in different ways, one mostly indoors and the other mostly outside and in drains. Termite swarmers have straight antennae, a thick waist and four wings of equal length, while flying ants have bent antennae, a pinched waist and longer front wings.

Our pest identification guide has photos and descriptions of the pests we treat. If you can trap the pest without handling it, seal it in a plastic bag or a jar, or take a clear photo next to a coin for scale. Note where and when it turned up as well, because that often points to where the pest is coming from. Show it to the technician at your free inspection, and they can confirm the species and explain the treatment options.

Frequently asked questions

What pests does Platinum Pest Management treat?

We treat scorpions, spiders, termites, bed bugs, roaches, rodents, gophers, mosquitoes, ants and crickets, and we offer general pest control for everyday household insects. Rodent service covers roof rats, mice and pack rats. Each pest has its own page in our services section with details on how we treat it.

Can I get a one-time treatment instead of a recurring plan?

Yes. One-time service is available, and it suits some problems better than others. At the free inspection, the technician will tell you whether one visit is likely to be enough or whether a monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly plan would do more to keep the pest from coming back.

Do you charge for a pest inspection?

No. Inspections and written quotes from Platinum Pest Management are free, and there is no obligation to book service afterward. The technician will identify the pest and explain the treatment options before giving you a price.

Do you treat both homes and businesses?

Yes. We provide residential pest control for houses, rentals and seasonal homes, along with commercial pest control for restaurants, offices, warehouses, apartment communities and other business properties in Gilbert and across the East Valley.
